Oplevelsescenter Maskinrummet a new attraction at Skagen Harbor that brings together large machines, engines, cars, motorcycles, maritime artifacts, a large historical fashion section, luxury shops, restaurants, and events all under one roof. It spans more than 12,000 m² across two buildings and several floors. The venue is designed as an experience center for the whole family—not a traditional museum—where many of the engines can be started up and brought to life.
The center is located at Auktionsvej 2, 9990 Skagen, in the middle of Skagen Harbor.

Behind the project is fisherman and businessman Henning Kjeldsen, whose private collection of historic engines, vehicles, and brand-name items such as bags, suitcases, and more forms the core of the center. He is also the owner of Plesner’s Badehotel in Skagen, and the two locations are part of a single, integrated visitor experience.
No. Oplevelsescenter Maskinrummet deliberately designed as an experience center rather than a museum. Whereas a museum typically displays its exhibits behind glass, the center emphasizes interactivity and engaging presentations, and the exhibits are continually updated with new features, so there’s always something new to come back for.
It is open Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., all year round. The center is closed on December 24, 25, and 31, as well as January 1.
Admission is 150 kr. for guests ages 12 and up. Children ages 0–11 get in free when accompanied by a paying adult. You can also purchase 2-day tickets for 250 kr.
Yes. Children under 12 get in for free when accompanied by a paying adult, so the whole family can come along.
Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at Oplevelsescenter Maskinrummet, regardless of size or breed. This policy is in place to protect the exhibits, our dining areas, and our other guests. If you have any questions before your visit, please feel free to contact us.

Yes, the facility is accessible to wheelchair users.
There are regular parking spaces, accessible parking spaces, and charging stations for electric cars right next to the visitor center. Parking fees and time limits are in accordance with the municipality’s regulations, and signs explaining these are posted at the parking areas.
At its heart is a large collection of machinery and vehicles featuring more than 400 different engines from many countries, an extensive car collection with both pre-war and post-war models, a large moped exhibition, and a wide-ranging motorcycle collection. There is also a prominent fashion and luxury section, maritime artifacts, a children’s area, as well as food, drinks, and events.
Yes. Several of the engines can already be started up and brought back to life, and more will be readied over time. Among the most notable is a massive Krupp diesel engine from 1926, which served as a power source during the 1936 Berlin Olympics. The center is equipped with a special exhaust system that channels the smoke up through the engine room and out through the lighthouse.
Yes. A significant portion of the center is dedicated to fashion and luxury, featuring clothing, handbags, shoes, and luggage from some of the world’s most iconic brands, including Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Dior, Prada, and Gucci, as well as an extensive collection of vintage Louis Vuitton suitcases. There is also a shop offering handbags from well-known brands as well as souvenirs.
Yes. Oplevelsescenter Maskinrummet designed with the whole family in mind. A special children’s area provides space for play and exploration, while the rest of the family explores the exhibits. Children under 12 get in free with a paying adult.
Yes. The center is linked to activities on the water and in town, including the Tunø tour boat to Grenen, a seine boat, and tugboats, as well as sightseeing tours in the old Bedford vintage bus around Skagen and the surrounding area.
Yes. A visit can be combined with several dining options in a variety of styles, ranging from restaurants and buffets to cafés and pubs. Among other places, you can visit Restaurant Fyrtårnet for seafood, Kabyssen for coffee and cake, Under Broen, Bistro M.E.R.K., and the English pub Captains Corner.
It depends on the location. You can visit Restaurant Fyrtårnet, Under Broen, Bistro M.E.R.K., and Captains Corner without a ticket to the experience center. Kabyssen, on the other hand, is located inside the experience center itself, and you’ll need a ticket to enter.
Yes. An ambitious event program is a central part of the concept. The program kicks off with a free opening concert and is followed by a series of paid concerts featuring selected major Danish artists. A dedicated music and event area has been set up, and the concerts will take place, among other places, under the footbridge connecting the two buildings.
Yes. Oplevelsescenter Maskinrummet venues for meetings, workshops, conferences, and corporate events in an industrial and historic setting. There are several rooms of various sizes, including Skagerrak and Kattegat, which accommodate approximately 20 to 30 people, and Grenen, the center’s largest room, which can seat around 450 people. There is also an elevator with a lifting capacity of 20 metric tons, so large items can be brought into the conference room.
Yes. The center welcomes schools, institutions, organizations, senior citizen groups, and other large groups. Special group rates are available for groups of more than 30 people, and the visit can be tailored to each group’s needs. Please contact us for more information.
